Upcoming changes to the PMP exam content

Updated: Jul 5

The PMP Exam content will change from Jan 2nd, 2021.

Prior to Jan 2nd, 2021, the 200 questions will be distributed amongst 5 domains, which are the 5 Process Groups, as shown below.

But starting from Jan 2nd, 2021, the number of domains has been reduced from 5 to 3 domains.

The 3 new domains and distribution of the 200 questions in the PMP Exams are in the table below:

Another important change is the distribution of the 200 questions between predictive (waterfall) and adaptive (agile and hybrid) approaches.

Earlier, most of the questions in the PMP Exam were based on the predictive approach. However, starting from Jan 2nd, 2021 about half of the questions will be from each of the two approaches. Therefore, knowledge of agile and hybrid approaches is a must before you take the new Exam.

To summarize, the content will increase to include agile and adaptative methodologies.

If possible, you should try and take the Exam prior to the change.
